After all its a life which u live !!
We are humans .. a life span of 100 years … In this span of 100 years .. More than 90% spend their 20 + studying n another 20 yrs enabling their kids to study … U reach retirment by then … so retire n spend another few last years thinking what I have done so far ??
Coming to what one has done … A life can be said succesful if u can enable another hazaar lives live better .. Who are the guys whom you remember ??
1> Politicians : They make their way to ur memory irrespective of u like it or not !! Coz thats the way how they survive
2> Actors : Coz they entertain u when u have had a fight ur wife !!
Very few remember the people who are behind the scenes !! You code for Google , sell soaps for HUL or become a civil servant .. all that matters is what u did for the community or how you have affected the lives of the people . I hope everyone agrees to me that “affecting / changing lives of people” is the most dignified work ever possible .
Now the question arise whose life you want to change ?
- People who are already making money .. You can help them to move from x to x power x .
- People who are in abject poverty . They dont have two meals a day .
I was once asked if there ever existed such people who do not have two meals a day !! Unfortunately India is a nation of pluralism , at one extreme we are the major inventors of software for US and at the other extreme more than 50% of India do not have proper drinking water !!
There is again a critical balance to be striked out .. Personal vs public . How much of life would you devote for public , n how well u manage personal is a big challenge
Its all between Power vs Money
The choice between IAS n MBA/MS boils down straight , what you opt for ? Power ?? or Money ??
- Are u ready to leave ur kids with ur parents ?? some 1000 km far away for their education ??
- What u want power or money to buy the power ?
- Are u ready to get transfered every now and then ??
These are the primary hurdles that any official is faced with .. Ready for it ?? The choice is easier now …
IAS in Delhi
Well if u r an IAS aspirant then u would have definitely come across Vajiram , delhi .. I had lots of doubts abt this …….
- Its a professionally managed institute .
- No library facilites and all only coaching .
- Courses start from June .. The 2nd optional coaching is from June – Sept . Mains and first optional coaching from Oct to May .
- You wont find people who have ditched their jobs and come there [ very very rare] .
In market u find class notes of all the subjects . It is worth to take a look at them , coz that compliments ur efforts . For all bangalore guys n gals .. if u need a copy of GS [ mains / pre class notes of vajiram] and upendra’s sociology notes ( class notes ) contact me .. you can take a xerox copy !!
All the best
Buses In delhi — N the attitude of conductors
The key difference in the busses in Delhi and Bangalore is that in Delhi counductor sits in one seat [ called Conductor seat] and its responsibility of people to collect tickets as oppsed to bangalore where conductor keeps roaming n issuing tickects . Also in Delhi , the rear door of bus is used to for boarding and front door for alighting ..
Well It happened that in the bus I was travelling , a blind guy(X) was also travelling , and he was supposed to get down at the next stop . He asked some person(Y) and he asked this blind guy to go to the front for easiness .. but unfortunately no one guided the blind guy .. n he missed his stop .. This initate the fight between the conductor and person Y .. but no one seemed to help the blind guy !!
Coming to the point ….
Here the public servants never think they are actually public servants !! They behave as if they own the bus .. When Y threatened to complain ..conductor was like laughing !!
But Metro at the same time rocks !! Its an example where IT has changed the way of life …
A day in delhi — Desccription
As I decided to stay in Noida for couple of days more .. I just went to roam around Delhi .. Here goes a transcript that describes my short travel
I left my friends place at 9:00 and caught a cycle rickshaw to “bara bais” ..[ Ya Noida is one of the place where you can still find cycle-rickshaws ] to catch a bus to Rajendranagar .
Well once I reached RajendraNagar , I dropped in to Vajiraman to enquire abt civils …. Vajiraman is a professionally handled institute , but when i spoke to students there I hardly could find anyone who had resigned their job and had taken the coaching !! So it was a bit disheartening … And also I wonder why most never give their civils attempt !!Then I decide to get a look at class notes of theirs .. So went to Ber Sarai .. in Old JNU campus .. Took a metro from Rajendranagar to Central Secratriat ..n then a bus from central secrartriat to ber sara ( bus no 620) N i purchased the class notes at Jawahar book depot ..N follwed my way back to Noida ..
Adobe Tech Summit
Well I had been to Noida for attending Adobe’s tech Summit and it was definitely enligting .. Intrestingly I came upon a presentation of image search which happened to fall in some lines of my BTech final year project !! Three days really rocked and was a high gyaan sessions ..
Keynote by sarnoff guy was very cool .. Especially where he demoed how they made a image speak !! Ya thats my tactic if when I stand for elections .. Every morning you gotta see me speak !! Well Sarn off appears to be a good company on the tech side ..Doing visual algorithms and stuff … solving intresting problems .. Great work Sarnoff
Well one enlightment I got was a new possible way of image compression , following discussions with Miller and my friend PC .. That was a nice experience ..
Then sneak peaks , and “Indian idol” I would say was not of standard of Adobe , atleast I expected .. It was like some college presentations …. But ya .. gotta appreciate the enthu … n courage ..
Overall it was a nice experience and it did induce some josh in me to travel further long …
