The Bangalore Dons !!

In Uncategorized on April 29, 2008 at 4:40 pm

Well it happened that I was chattinmg with some people and I came across a person who seemed to know this “underworld” pretty well . The following is inspired by his words .

Who is the “don”

Currently the “don” of bangalore is “Agni Sridhar” . He is a bald guy and always wears a Rayban to prevent the shine of eyes from striking you and he resides in Padmanabhanagar .

Why would anyone go to a don

Normally in businesses , we come across lot of defaulters . Say you are a businessman and say some “B” owes you money . If you go to court unnecessarily the case gets streched and money loses its value along with time . So there is no use of fighting for 50 Lakhs in court for 5 years .. Instead they come to “don” .He acts as a standing judge .. and can extort .. do whatever he want to give you justice. He takes a cut in the money

Wouldnt the defaulters go to don for rescue ??

Yes , they do come .. and generally the deals happens between two dons and the lender and defaulter dont do any talking .. They abide by the don’s words .. [ Thats the rule] .

Where can you find the Dons ??

Actually every area has a don .. for eg Vijaynagar has Govinda .. etc . These dons also maintain offices .. One such office is near Railway track of Vijaynagar . Also all members meet in Kadamba hotel of basweshwarnagar after 8 . It is said that “Agni Sridhar” himself comes to this Kadmaba hotel .. to preside over important decisions . It is also said that “chota mota kaam” gets settled by a phone call .

Wouldnt Police interrupt ?? Cant you approach police ??

Yes ofcourse you can …. But see the apathy .. the Notary which sit in front of utility building has to pay a hafta of Rs 200 per day ( not a joke) . The place where justice is fought , where you can expect utmost security .. people pay hafta to dons .. ( not police constables) .

Is this the only source of money ??

No not all .. nowadays best business the dons are entering is “newspaper/journals” .. They publish the unheard scenes and stories [ ya even Ravi belegare was a don] .

How to escape when u are attacked by hooligans ?

Tell them You r “Agni Sridhar’s ” gang member :) or Somanna’s shishya :)

Comparing IPL with Mahabharatha

In Uncategorized on April 25, 2008 at 6:22 pm

In Mahabharatha , when it was almost sure that the war was going to happen kauravas and Pandavas started lobbying for warriors . Duryodhana(Dur) was succesful in luring all the stalwarts and finally comes to lure Krishna . Yudistira (Yud)also at the same time comes to Krishna . Since Krishna was sleeping both decide to wait fo him to wake up .. and with som eego Mr Dur sits perpendicular to Krishna’s head and Mr Yud near his feet .. Everybody knows the story there after .

Cricketer’s auctiones for IPL has some pattern with the mahaBharatha as mentioned above .. but the difference being its the fight btw liquour and theatre ..

IPL has already created some embarassing situations .. for eg Utthappa .. who did his schooling at BHSS( Bangalore Higher Secondary School) and went to represent India through karnataka , is now playing for Mumbai!!

Symonds and bhaji .. the North and south are now in the same team .. I dont know if that has bridged some gaps or has widened the gaps even more ….

But on ething for sure we have got more news to read nowadays in the News papers :)

A day without managers in the company

In Uncategorized on April 25, 2008 at 6:09 pm

Today was one of the best days I think … a day where no manager was found around !! I think it would be a inspiring idea if it is made compulsory for all the managers to work from home once a week :)

The intresting outcomes were some intresting “poems” were circulated through the mails :)

The future of Gaming Industry

In Uncategorized on April 25, 2008 at 5:54 pm

Without a zilch of doubt in mind we can easily say that future of gaming industry is mmorpg . These are games where people done a avatar in th virtual world and skim through the experiences . They fight dragons as in WOW or fly across the islands and teleport to IBM germany .. as in second life .

The main attractions in these games are that at any given time you will find other people with whom you can chat/ fight etc etc .. In a sense second life adds life to “chat”.. ofcourse with other “stuffs” .

Now speaking of the businesses these mmorpgs are converting the “virtual money” to the real “$$” . In the secon Life they have the Lindan $ which trades as 300 Lindan $ == 1$ . Similarly we find lots of “gold farmers” in China .. whose only work is to Kill monsters , or procure weapons etc etc and supply them to affluent western people who play the game . This has actually become a new avenue of business where people who work as farmers earn anywhere near 120 $ to 250 $ !! And also they have PF , health etc ect ..

The important point here to be noted is that these mmorpgs have created new opportunities , but at the same time have the capability to “affect” the real “economy” . In fact some Govts are seriously watching them .

Also companies like IBM buy islands after islands in the second life and use it for crowd sourcing . Sony has also very well used the second life .. In fact to such a extent that they will be soon launching their version of second life .

But ya hold on .. everythings not a cake walk .. If you wish to have a detailed understanding of How this Gold farming works read this.

But given the fact that in India there are so many people who are looking for a work .. Getting paid for playing games is not a “bad” idea :)

Soon my expectation is that we can find a bunch of “Gold mining centres” here in India which would employ youngsters to mine gold online .. Continue colonisation ??

Ad tower : Adding shine to the city

In Uncategorized on April 20, 2008 at 5:14 pm

What we can do is purchase a 6*6 site in MG Road ( Please note all I am asing is a 6*6 site which can be negotiated with some shopKeepers . Essentially space for bill boards) . Now errect a tower a rectangular tower and call it a Ad Tower .

Since it ‘ sunique and it is a ad tower sell the space for a few milon dollars and become rich !!

Or if u are a techsavvy guy .. Place some bean bags vertically stacked and say ” free office space ” for techies .

Lots of free lancers would love to be there !! And soon it will turn out to be a :geekY” entreprenaur spot .

That will inturn make ur Ad tower better :)

Automated Parking systems

In Uncategorized on April 20, 2008 at 5:06 pm

Most of the time we get stuck in the parking .. because of the hapazardly arranged vehicles . This has also resulted in the traffic jam around many junctions in bangalore .

How should a parking system be ?

Ideally speaking we should automate this parking system . This should be designed in such a way that any person who wants to park will approach a lift . The lift will automatically ‘analyse” where should it park and suitably places the car in that particular stack and returns the key to the user .

When user needs to get back his car he swipes this key and hurrah !! he has his car ..

May be even the “loyalty ” schemes and other gimmicks can be applied to commercialise the system .

if there are any builders reading this post .. Why shouldnt we build such a system ?

How can we improve the traffic condition in our city ?

In Uncategorized on April 20, 2008 at 2:20 pm

Every morning when we kick start our bikes to ride to the office we inadvertently contribute to the traffic mess that get created across the way . Lets discuss what practically could be done to control the traffic mess in Bangalore .

1. Work from Home :

Companies and management should think of having one day as a WFH day . Some management systems/tactics should evolve so that WFH is effective for the employer and employee !!

2. Public Transport Day

Once a week we should have a Public Transport Day and this will depend again on the “office ” location.

3. Metro Train

Once Metro train is up .. I dont see any point people travellling for an hour when you can reach the destination is 15 min !! But the catch is the stations ( Metro stations) should have very good parking . Possibly paring could be a automated system where a person goes and leaves the car on a lift and lift intelligently places the car in a stack and returns a key !! Th eperson can use this key to get his car back down . This way efficient parking system will be possible . And traffic will surely come under control

4. Induce discipline in riders

Most of us generally blame “auto” drivers . Ya true to most extent … but sometimes even we fine some civilians blocking and making way through “possible’ gaps …Some discipline should be brought among civilians ..

Domestic Violence Act

In Woman on April 13, 2008 at 2:53 pm

If you are a woman , then you should definitely know these acts that safeguard you physically , emotionally and socially .

Well you might be wondering if u r abused??Ya right .. I fell most women just take in these abuses without even opposing .. may be at busstops or may be in Pubs .. I have heard many shrug away saying “Ditch it da”

You can have a look about the what “acts” are considered as abuse in this blog by Aparna . I think every person would have watched these discrimination in his own house , be it agaisnt his mom or his sis .. People should treat their spouses in “equal” .. only then these disparities will cease .

Higlights of this act ..

1> Applies to people in live-in also

Harassment by way of unlawful dowry demands on the woman or her relatives also comes under this definition.

# The law will cover those women who are or have been in a relationship where both parties have lived together in a shared household , and are related by marriage or adoption.

# Preventing one’s wife from taking up a job or forcing her to leave job are also under the purview of the Act

# One of the most important features of the Act is that it also provides a woman a right to reside in the matrimonial and shared household, whether or not she has any title in the household.

# Husbands or live-in partners who would be guilty of domestic violence can be put behind bars for a year and fined Rs 20,000

# And all crimes in the Domestic Violence Act are non-bailable

The Act has also defined Physical Violence very comprehensively, as:
* Any kind of bodily harm or injury
* A threat of bodily harm
* Beating, slapping and hitting.

Under the law, Sexual Violence will include:
* Forced sexual encounter
* Forcing a woman to look at pornography or any obscene pictures
* Any act of sexual nature to abuse, humiliate or degrade a woman’s’
integrity.

The Act defines Verbal Violence as:
# Name calling
# Any kind of accusation on a woman’s character or conduct
# Insults for not bringing dowry
# Preventing a woman from marrying a person of her choice
# Any form of threat or insults for not producing a male child.

Another significant step has been to recognize Economic Violence. Under the Act, Economic Violence is:
# Not providing money, food, clothes, medicines
# Causing hindrance to employment opportunities
# Forcing a woman to vacate her house
# Not paying rent.

I think if u r a woman and married and in 40’s u would definitely have encountered one of these “violences” against u :(
